Pencil Paper Clash – Privacy
Last updated: 18 October 2026
The short version: Pencil Paper Clash has no accounts and no purchases. Your progress, points and settings stay on your phone. An online duel sends only what the other player needs to see. The weekly leaderboards show a name the game made up for you and your totals for the week. The game offers short videos you can choose to watch; those come from Google AdMob, which collects some data to show and measure them.
What the game keeps, on your phone only
- Your progress: level, points, the hats, skins and other things you earned, goals, awards and the collection book.
- Your settings (sound, text size, colours, controls) and how many optional videos you watched today.
None of this is sent anywhere (the weekly leaderboards below get only their own totals). Uninstalling the game (or clearing its data) deletes it.
Online duels
When you host or join an online duel, the two games talk to each other through a relay server we run on Cloudflare. They send the 4-letter room code, the player names shown in the duel (PLAYER 1 and PLAYER 2), the game version, and the moves of the match while you play. Nothing else: no device ID, no account and no location.
The relay passes these messages straight on to the other player and doesn't store them. Like any internet service, the provider may keep short technical logs, such as the IP address, for security. Everything else in the game works without internet and sends nothing (apart from the leaderboards and optional videos below). There is no chat.
Weekly leaderboards
GOALS → BOARDS shows two leaderboards for the week: points won in matches, and online duels won. After a match the game sends this week's totals to our leaderboard database (run by Supabase), together with a name the game made up for you from two words and a number (like "Sneaky Stapler 42"; NEW NAME picks another) and a random ID the game created on your phone. The random ID is not your advertising ID or any other ID of your phone, it is never shown to anyone, and it only lets the game keep your one total for the week.
Everyone who opens the leaderboards can see the made-up names and totals. Leaderboard entries are deleted after 12 weeks. To have yours deleted sooner, write to us with the name shown on the board.
Optional videos
After a match the game offers a short video that doubles the points you won, and the shop offers one for a gift of points. Videos are never shown during a match and never without you tapping the offer, and there are only a few a day.
The videos come from Google AdMob. To show them, measure them and prevent fraud, Google's ad software on your phone collects your device's advertising ID, your approximate location (from the IP address), how you use the ad and diagnostic information about the app. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland the game asks for your consent first (Google's consent message), and "AD PRIVACY" in Settings lets you change it any time. You can reset or delete the advertising ID in your phone's settings. How Google uses this data: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
What the game doesn't have
- No in-app purchases, no account or sign-in.
- No analytics or crash reporting of our own.
Children
The game, with its optional videos, is meant for players 13 and over. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children.
This website
When you ask for a download on this website, we store the name, email address, platform and message you type, so we can send you a download code by email (sent through Resend). We use them only for that, never share or sell them, and delete them when you ask. A review you post shows the name you type with it. The website is hosted by Cloudflare, and its fonts come from Google Fonts, so your browser contacts Google to load them.
