About this app

Listen 'ere, sunshine. You've got bread, an egg and a drop of oil? That's not an empty fridge, that's breakfast. Tap the pictures of what's in your kitchen and Nan finds you something proper to cook with it. Not a shopping list. Not a forty-ingredient masterpiece. Food, from what you've already got.

Then she talks you through it, one big step at a time, out loud. Every step says how long it takes, timers ding, and a timer keeps going while you get on with the toast. No milk? Nan swaps it for water and changes the steps for you. No oven? Tell her, and she only shows you what you can make.

Your plate gets stamped NAN APPROVED, you rate it, and you climb from Kitchen Newbie to Honorary Nan. New recipes are added regularly, and Nan's cheap-and-cheerful cocktails are on the way.

How far we are

The free closed test opened on 21 October 2026. Google needs 12 testers to keep it installed for 14 days before Nan can go public, so every tester really helps.

What you need

Android

Works offline, apart from the optional videos

How to join the test

Open the tester group and tap Join group. Use the Google account that's on your Android phone or tablet.
Open the test page with the same account and tap Become a tester.
Tap download it on Google Play and install it like any other app. It can take a few minutes after joining before Google Play shows it.
Keep it installed for at least 14 days and use it now and then. Google counts testers only while they stay in.
